Month 2 Pictures and Week 8 Weigh In!!

So this past week was not at all what I expected it to be.  In my last post I talked about how organized and schedule oriented I was going to be, well after about two days of doing good, that all went out the window.  When you are the mom and your child gets sick, it seems like everything stops so you can take care of them.  Sunday night we ended up taking Logan into the Dr with a 103.6 fever.  After paying lots of money and getting no answers we set out for a super fun week of, fevers, coughing, and vomiting.  Oh and also lack of sleep, orneryness, and irritability.  And if that wasn't bad enough I had the opportunity of getting sick with Logan for a couple of days, super fun!!  So needless to say, I didn't get much exercising and other basic housework done.  I was a little nervous to get on the scale this morning, but was pleasantly surprised to see that I had lost 5.4lbs this week, for a total of 42.5lbs.   It was probably just all water weight from being dehydrated, but I will take it where I can get it. (Yes I know that is not a healthy way to lose weight)  Next week is where it will really show.  I also lost another 3 inches, for a new total of 26.5 inches lost.

So now for the next big reveal.  Not a big difference, with only 13lbs lost this month, but you can still tell a difference, especially from the originals.  I did have to retire the jeans from the first two pictures and happy to say that I now fit into several pairs of pants that didn't fit me 2 months ago.

                       Starting                          Month 1                           Month 2

I really am feeling greater and greater every day.  And get excited when I run into someone I have not seen in awhile and they notice that I have lost weight.    I know that is not what it is all about,
but it sure does help.
SOOO excited for this next week, but you will have to wait for my next post to find
out what I have going on.

Week 7 Weigh In!!

Another week has gone by and I am happy to report another 4.4 pounds gone forever.  Considering that it was my time of the month all week and I have felt bloated and that I was carrying around a bunch of extra water weight, I was super excited to see that number this morning.  I am down 37 pounds and 23.5 inches, and I am feeling great!!
I have realized this past week that I am starting to get too comfortable in my routine and need to take another step out of my comfort zone.  I have set up some goals for myself to do just that, and excited to see the results it brings.  One big area I struggle with and always have struggled with is time management.  I am not good at all at following a schedule.  I can get places on time, but it is all the extra time in between when I don't have specific things to be doing that I struggle with.  I really need to focus some energy on those times and make sure I can be productive in all aspects of my life.  I have written out a daily timed schedule some days, and it seems to work out, but for some reason I haven't been able to get myself to do that everyday.  I think no I don't need to do that today, I can be productive with out it.  Yeah right, who am I kidding.  Maybe I start out the day good but as the day goes on I get less and less productive and end up spending more and more time on the computer.  I love to be able to cross something off a list, so on days where I make my schedule and goals for the day, it keeps me motivated because I want to be able to cross those things off my list.  So I haven't quite figured out why I can't get myself to make a schedule everyday, but I am promising myself and you guys that for the next week, I will make and stick to a schedule everyday!!  I want to have a really good number on the scale this next week and I know that by being more productive and sticking to a schedule, that it will be easier to accomplish those goals.  I will report back to you next week with my weigh in and give you the results of my promise.  Thank you again for all the support and encouragement!  I am truly blessed!!

Weigh In Day!!

Thursdays are my weigh in day, and I am happy to report after last weeks two pound gain, that I am down 5.4 pounds this week.  Which is an overall loss of 33 pounds.  I will definitely take that.  I will admit though that somewhere in the back of my mind I am a little disappointed, because it is now coming off a lot slower than it did in the beginning.  My first goal was to have 30 off in a month, which I did, but my second goal is to have 50 off in two months.  With only two weeks to go and 17 more pounds to lose, I realize now that is probably not going to happen.  I am learning to not be attached to the number though and to focus on my actions and how I am feeling.  I have not mastered that yet but am making progress.  I am also happy to report that I have lost 17.5 inches as well.  I have more energy and just feel so much better.  I am so grateful everyday to have found this program and for the amazing changes it is making in not only my life, but my families life.
I have to share a cute story about Logan that happened this week.  On Wednesday it was the kids parent teacher conferences, and I usually bring the teachers some kind of treat when we go.  Tyler asked Logan if he wanted to bring a treat for his teacher, and he said, "No we better not because she might be trying to eat healthy right now."  He said that because he had noticed that she wasn't drinking soda anymore in class and since I quit drinking soda to be more healthy, he put the two together.  I thought that was so cute and thoughtful and makes me very happy to see he is learning.  Now only if he would eat his veggies.

I have a random favor to ask of you guys, really for no reason at all, but if you are following along, would you please subscribe over there on the right side column.  Thanks again SO much for all your support.  I know I say this a lot, but I really truly couldn't be doing this with out all the support from everyone.  Thank You Thank You!!

Nutrition

I have started to love cooking again, and have tried so many great new recipes and foods.  Just tonight for dinner I had brussel sprouts, which I had never even tried before.  It is amazing how quickly my pallet for taste has changed.  I now crave veggies and can't wait to try new things.  A very interesting this I learned lately that I wanted to share with you is about hunger, or what we think hunger is.  Often times when we are so unhealthy as I was you think you feel hungry all the time.  So what do you do?  You eat all the time.  But when we are not healthy and uneducated about nutrition the thing you don't realize is that the reason you are hungry all the time is because you body is craving nutrition and hoping that maybe this time you will give it what it needs.  It is kind of a vicious cycle.  You eat crappy food, you get hungry, you eat more crappy food, which still doesn't make you feel better.  When you are eating healthy foods and giving your body the things it needs it doesn't trigger those fake hunger pains.  My body feels so much better after eating so healthy for the last month.  I feel stronger and more able to do the daily things I need to get done.  My kids are even starting to like eating their veggies.
Another interesting point that was made at our meeting on Thursday night was that all of these processed foods we eat, are essentially non-foods.  They are processed SO much that they really are not even food anymore.  Think about that for a minute.  My challenge for everyone is to add more natural whole foods into your diet this week.  If you get hungry between meals choose a healthy snack.  Take the time to give your body what it is really looking for, and I promise you will start to feel so much better.

Staying positive during challenging times

So today I am learning how to turn a hurdle into a blessing.  This morning was my weekly weigh in, and according to the scale, I am up 2 pounds for the week.    Of course I am disappointed by the number and a little discouraged, but thanks to my awesome life coach Becky Sampson, I am learning how to push past this and turn it into a positive rather than a negative.  During our morning call this morning, she taught me that it is important to not get attached to results.  Instead focus on measuring my activity, and the results will happen.  I had to take a look at my activity from the past week and see what I can improve on for this next week.  In looking back, I am happy to say that I didn't cheat on my food at all, but I could have tried a little harder to be more active in my daily life.  One area that I struggle with is the amount of time I spend on Facebook.  As much as I love all of you for your encouragement and support, this past week I have realized I have been relying on that a little bit too much.  Another thing Becky told me this morning was that it is none of my business what other people think of me.  That has really helped me get over this hurdle, because one of the first things I thought when I got on the scale this morning is, what a disappointment I am to those who are supporting me.  I felt like I let everyone down including myself, and I didn't think I could face that.  I have done a lot of thinking and writing in my journal today and have come to realize that it is all OK.  I can allow myself to stay in this place for as long as I would like, but the longer I focus on it, the more the negativity in my head will expand.  After years with a head full of negativity I realize that is not a place I want to go.  So I am releasing these negative thoughts and moving forward to greater things.  I was never told, nor did I expect this journey to be easy, but I have learned through the help of my amazing husband and awesome support group that I can make it through anything.  I am still so much better off than I was a month ago, and yesterday I fit into a pair of jeans that didn't fit last month, so there is still reason to celebrate.
